Some Useful Information About Our Rabbits:
As rabbits have a very fast reproductive rate, we will have a new litter every two months (one month of pregnancy and one month of caring for the kits) ready to be adopted. We will on average, have between 4-12 kits from each mother and can be weaned and seperated from their mothers at 4 to five weeks of age (ready for adoption).
If you are planning to buy a rabbit you need to understand that owning one could be a 9-12 year commitment possibly longer. The worlds oldest rabbit lived to 18 years!
Rabbits can be trained to use litter trays and walk on leads which can make your job of caring for them a lot easier if you have the time and effort to do it.
Litter training them is easy, rabbits generally go in the same spot so place a litter tray in this spot and it will eventually learn that this is where he or she is supposed to go, making cleaning their hutch a lot easier.
Rabbits usually aren't fussy eaters and will eat pretty much anything that you give them. There are however a few things that your rabbit shouldn't eat. Below are two lists, what rabbits should and shouldn't eat.
Should not eat:
- Tomatoes
- avacado
- buttercup
- rhubarb
- Citric fruit (lemon, oranges etc)
- Bread
- Pasta
- Rice
- Nuts
- Crackers
- Old grass or leaves (have gone droopy)
Can eat:
- Grass
- Fresh leaves
- Apple
- Peach
- Carrot
- Zucchini
- Basil
- Mint
- Clover
- Hay
- Pear
And many more.
